What is structural guarantee?

The 10-year guarantee is a warranty that protects owners of new build homes from structural defects that may occur. The warranty lasts for the first 10 years from construction completion and covers the following areas:

  • Structural defects caused by workmanship
  • Structural defects caused by failed construction materials

Purchasing a home that includes a structural warranty is important for mortgage lenders and failure to have a warranty in place may delay the release of funds for your home completion.

How does it work?

10-year warranty providers consistently work with the country’s leading insurers to provide their guarantees.  A 10-year structural guarantee gives you reassurance that whatever happens, you’re protected and taken care of.

When you purchase a new build home from Primesave, your warranty will include the following:

  • Structural warranty of 10 years
  • Defects insurance cover from Primesave for the first 2 years from your contract completion
  • Structural insurance of 10 years, covered by an approved mortgage accepted provider

What’s covered?

During your cover, you’ll be provided with protection for key structural components in your new home, including:

  • Foundations
  • Load bearings
  • Non-load bearing partition walls
  • Chimneys/flues
  • Roof coverings
  • External finishing surfaces (including rendering)

What’s included?

The warranty ensures that the property is inspected during the construction process by independent surveyors to ensure that all homes not only comply with current building regulations, but are also built to a satisfactory standard.

On completion, each property is issued with a certificate of insurance for the 10-year structural warranty in which all the details and information on what is covered will be within.
